UPDATED GUIDANCE – Importer Obligation and Requirements in Completing Origin Documents - Declarations, Statements, and Certifications of Origin
CBP updated guidance clarifying that origin declarations, statements, and certifications of origin must be completed by a responsible official of the importer, exporter, producer, or authorized agent with knowledge of the facts, and that consignees who are not the importer of record may not be listed as importer; failure to provide these documents upon request may result in denial of preferential tariff treatment claims.
